I subleased an apartment in this building for a couple months while looking for a house to buy. First off, it appears luxurious and secure with the main entry having secured double doors that you can only gain access into with your key fob and immaculately clean large antryway leading to the elevators. The apartment itself was a nice size with all the modern conveniences, dishwasher, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, large garden bathtub. But the walls are crooked and the... floorboards don't line up properly. I could hear my neighbors on both sides and above me constantly. The hot water barely last for 10 or 15 minutes because I had the smallest water heater ever so that huge bathtub was pretty much pointless. The whole building looks nice but it was built on the cheap and it shows.
Unfortunately, I don't feel as though you get what you pay for. I was on the 2nd floor over a popular bar that had live music several days a week, which pounded through the floorboards until 2am, and the bathroom seemed to amplify the noise. There was no security, I was living there on St Patrick's day and there were people roaming the halls, vomit in the stairwell, strangers knocking on my door asking to use the bathroom, and garbage strewn everywhere. Packages were regularly stolen from the vestibule, the small area between 2 sets of doors. The noise and crowds were unbearable, any event, such as Superbowl, when there's 40000 people out there drinking and partying, basically in your front yard.
The homeless have also seemed to claim this area as the place where they sit on every corner and in front of most of the bars aggressively panhandling. I saw my share of fights break out, people so intoxicated they can hardly walk, college age kids so drunk they're unconscious, and the police, who have a small substation right under the Current, do nothing about it.
If you're willing to pay this much money in rent go anywhere but this place.
